The Grenee McCollum-Dobbs Memorial Scholarship
The Grenee McCollum-Dobbs Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to 1 graduating senior from the Rockdale County Public School System each year. This student can be self-nominated or nominated by a member of the school’s faculty or staff (principal, teacher, counselor, etc.) for odds they’ve overcome, potential they show or hardships they’ve endured. Applications will be accepted starting January 1st of each year and the nomination deadline will be March 25th.
Past Recipients
In our first initiative, The Grenee McCollum Dobbs Memorial Scholarship, we fielded several applications, and our scholarship selection committee chose Rockdale County High School senior Karen Tejada as the first recipient. Karen excelled academically, finishing as Co-Valedictorian, all while serving as a translator for hospital staff as her grandmother courageously battled illness. This experience motivated Karen to explore the health and sciences field at The University of Georgia so she can accomplish her long-term goal of making non-English speakers more comfortable in the healthcare setting.
