Jabrell Roland
2023 Grenee McCollum-Dobbs Memorial Scholarship Recipient
It comes with great excitement to announce that we’ve selected Heritage High School graduate Jabrell Roland as our 2023 Grenee McCollum Dobbs Memorial Scholarship recipient. Notwithstanding Jabrell’s heartwarming application essay highlighting his experience of passionately pursuing his goals, while balancing the demands and responsibilities of maintaining multiple jobs in addition to serving as Woodwind Captain of the Heritage High School Marching Band, all while excelling academically, it was his actions during the selection process that set him apart from the candidate pool. Jabrell’s consistent follow ups and requests for updates were reflective of the dedication, commitment and tenacity that The Grenee Dobbs Foundation looks for and seeks to invest in.
This summer, we met with the Roland family at the scholarship awarding ceremony and it was truly a pleasure. Seeing a mother beam with pride as she watches her son boys become a maen, a strong father instilling the importance of maintaining an exceptional work ethic while still fulfilling your responsibilitiesy to the community and a trailblazing older brother providing guidance to Jabrell every step of the way, served as further confirmation that we made the right choice in selecting Jabrell as the 2023 Grenee McCollum Dobbs Memorial Scholarship recipient. We are very excited to see what’s next for Jabrell as he embarks on a new journey at Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus in Savannah, GA.
